At one time, I used my Newtons (both 120 and 2100) extensively for
faxing--both sending and receiving. In comparison to using computers
for the work, it was much faster, simpler and more reliable on the
order of magnitudes. I don't remember ever dropping a line in the
middle of a fax session on my Newt (using the cigarette modem). I
never had issues with reading faxes, and as Bob said, the ability to
annotate directly on the fax (including HWR--my text was genuine text,
not handwriting--except when I wanted it--signatures, etc.). I could
go through a whole session of several faxes, and never think about the
fact that I was using a tiny-screened device. I still think that the
best fax platform I've ever used was my Newton. Right now, I have a
dedicated printer/fax, and don't use my Newton, because I do more
sending of paper documents, but it is still my favorite "fax machine"
for receiving. Oh, and the bulk of my faxing is international. ;-)
