I was using the infrared method. I told the pc to connect, then the
Newton and they both would say connecting and then connected, but once
the mac tried to pop up the window that you do everthing in it would
lock up. But I'm getting the problem solved now. Looks like part of
the next paycheck is going to be going towards a serial/usb converter
(and a ser-001).

Even with DILtester ypu need the proper network card drivers to have
installed, otherwise there is no chance to connect via Ethernet.
Maybe via Infrared, but the protocol from Newt and nowadays IrDa
protocols
are different and incompatible. I do not know how this is solved on the
MAC-side with DIL-tester, but it is stated there that this would work.
How did you try to connect using DILtester? Infrared or network?
