[NTLK] New version of MoreWIFICards (Airport Express and Newton)

All PCIMCIA cards referenced FCC ID : 
IMRWLPCE24, IMRWLPCE24H and IMRWLPCE2411R 
works in theory with Hiroshi's driver, except that there are some differences between theory and reality. 
Some of these cards don't work, because they were not referenced in Hiroshi's [LucentWaveLAN] driver. 
Paul Guyot had extended the list of compatible cards for the Hiroshi [LucentWaveLAN] driver with the [MoreWifiCards] package, which allows to use more cards. Some of these cards have identification strings of more than 31 characters, for MoreWifiCards to be able to use them it is necessary to install also [LanternPatch-v1]. Anyway if you install [MoreWifiCards] I advise you to install [LanternPatch-v1]. 

The last version of MoreWifiCards (version 5) was released in 2004.
In this version 5 there was a small bug, causing the cards to be displayed twice in the choice list, disturbing some users.
I mentioned this bug a few days ago to Paul who fixed it.
So a new (fixed) version of MoreWifiCards was released, version 5.1 (yes sixteen years later a new release!) which now displays a list without duplicates. You will find at the address below the link to download this new version.
With Paul's agreement, I took advantage of this new version to correct one of the entries so that this card is indeed well recognized. 
This version 5.1 brings 100% compatibility with the cards: 
Alvarion BreezeNET PC-DS.11b
More maps will be updated in the next few weeks, as I investigate the maps listed and possibly also new ones.

As a reminder, to use the Wifi on Newton you must have :
- a wifi access delivered by a device compatible with the old wifi cards and which broadcasts wifi in 802.11b. If it broadcasts only in 802.11g, or 802.11n or 802.11ac... it will not work, since Newton compatible cards only work in 802.11b.
- a wifi card compatible with the Newton 2000, 2100 and eMate 300
- Hiroshi's [LucentWaveLAN.pkg] driver. 

If your card is not recognized by the LucentWaveLAN.pkg driver then you need to add :
- MoreWiFiCards-v5.1.pkg] by Paul Guyot which extend the list of compatible wifi cards.
+ [LanternPatch-v1.pkg] (if identification strings of more than 31 characters).

- Of course, the NIE suite (Newton Internet Connection) must be installed and configured correctly on your Newton for this to work.

Toutes les cartes PCIMCIA référencées FCC ID : 
IMRWLPCE24, IMRWLPCE24H et IMRWLPCE2411R 
fonctionne en théorie avec le driver d'Hiroshi, sauf qu'il y a quelques différences entre la théorie et la réalité. 
Certaines de ces cartes ne fonctionnent pas, en partie parce qu'elles n'étaient pas référencées dans le pilote [LucentWaveLAN] d’Hiroshi mais pas que. 
Paul Guyot avait étendu la liste des cartes compatibles avec le pilote Hiroshi [LucentWaveLAN] avec le paquet [MoreWifiCards], qui permet d'utiliser plus de cartes. Certaines de ces cartes ont des chaînes d'identification de plus de 31 caractères, pour que MoreWifiCards puisse les utiliser, il est nécessaire d'installer également [LanternPatch-v1]. De toute façon, si vous installez des [MoreWifiCards], je vous conseille d'installer [LanternPatch-v1] si vous ne savez pas. 

La dernière version de MoreWifiCards (version 5) est sortie en 2004.
Dans cette version 5, il y avait un petit bogue qui faisait que les cartes s'affichaient deux fois dans la liste de choix, ce qui dérangeait certains utilisateurs.
J'ai mentionné ce bug il y a quelques semaines à Paul qui l'a corrigé.
Une nouvelle version (corrigée) de MoreWifiCards a donc été publiée, la version 5.1 (oui, seize ans plus tard, une nouvelle version !) qui affiche maintenant une liste sans doublons. Vous trouverez à l'adresse ci-dessous le lien pour télécharger cette nouvelle version.
Avec l'accord de Paul, j'ai profité de cette nouvelle version pour corriger une des entrées afin que cette carte soit effectivement bien reconnue. 
Cette version 5.1 apporte donc une compatibilité à 100% avec les cartes : 
Alvarion BreezeNET PC-DS.11b
D'autres cartes seront mises à jour dans les prochaines semaines, mois, au fur et à mesure que j'examinerai les cartes énumérées et peut-être aussi de nouvelles cartes.


Je vous rappelle que pour utiliser le Wifi sur Newton, vous devez avoir :
- un accès wifi délivré par un appareil compatible avec les anciennes cartes wifi et qui diffuse le wifi en 802.11b. S'il ne diffuse qu'en 802.11g, ou 802.11n ou 802.11ac... il ne fonctionnera pas avec le Newton, car les cartes compatibles Newton ne fonctionnent qu'en 802.11b.
- une carte wifi compatible avec les Newton 2000, 2100 et eMate 300
- Le pilote [LucentWaveLAN.pkg] d'Hiroshi [LucentWaveLAN.pkg]. 
Si votre carte n'est pas reconnue par le pilote LucentWaveLAN.pkg, vous devez ajouter :
- [MoreWiFiCards-v5.1.pkg] de Paul Guyot + [LanternPatch-v1.pkg] qui étend la liste des cartes wifi compatibles.

Bien entendu, la suite NIE (Newton Internet Connection) doit aussi être installée et configurée correctement sur votre Newton pour que cela fonctionne.
