That's why a good service technician must dare and be able to ask the right
questions. A long time ago, a 2100 travelled across the Atlantic along with
its battery and its AC adapter because it was, to all intents and purposes,
dead. Which it wasn't when it ended up on my workbench. Quite the opposite:
After charging it, it didn't miss a beat for days until I finally sent it
back.
With the right questioning, we were able to resolve this issue. After I
suggested plugging his hair dryer into the same AC outlet, we found that the
hair dryer didn't work, either. We then narrowed the problem down to a blown
fuse in that guy's fuse box. I was quite proud of having identified and
resolved this problem although I was almost 9000 kilometers away...
So, if I'm asking questions here that seem incredibly stupid to most
experienced list members, don't feel insulted. That's just my feeble attempt
at saving shipping costs that aren't necessary :-)
Cheers
Frank
