I tried out Super Notepad and really liked its feature set,
especially the tagging and filtering functions. I also really, really
liked the way its designers integrated all of its functions in a very
'Newton' way.

I was all set to buy a registration, but then started getting an
error code that I couldn't figure out, and was unable to access my
notes. Super Notepad does modify the Notes soup to store information
associated with its added features, so something must have gotten
corrupted. After a lot of frustration and anxiety, I eventually
recovered by freezing Super Notepad (supposedly a no-no), and
restarting my Newton. It was long enough ago that I'm not entirely
clear of the details (sorry). Scared me off, though.

I've settled comfortably into HyperNewt as a way to get more
organization out of my Notes. A bit more 'old-school' in its design
(the file folder tree paradigm), it lets me organize things the way I
like, including storing links to (e.g.) Works spreadsheets in Notes.
I do need several additional add-ons to Notes to emulate some of the
other functions available in Super Notepad (TimeStamp comes to
mind). HyperNewt does not modify the Notes soup, but creates
additional storage to keep its information. I've come to appreciate
that.

It would be nice to hear from folks who have used Super Notepad
without any problem.

HTH...
