Excellent! That is much healthier IP address for your AirPort to have.
When you have your AirPort connected via the WAN port like that, if
you connect a new computer (or reconnect yours) via WiFi, does it then
get a 10.0.1.x IP address? I'd assume yes.
I'd still suggest turning off sharing a single IP address and then
plugging the AirPort in via Ethernet instead of WAN to rule out the
double NAT possibility. However, if you want to leave it with sharing
a single IP address and plugged into the WAN port, that's better than
it was.
On the Newton side, in Internet Setup, you should be able to add a
generic Ethernet connection, with "Configuration" set to "DHCP Server"
and the correct card selected.
If that doesn't work, you can try changing it to (if share single IP
address is turned off):
Configuration: Manually
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Local IP Address: 192.168.1.253
Gateway/Router Address: 192.168.1.1
Primary DNS/Name Server Address: 192.168.1.1
Or, if sharing a single IP address is left on:
Configuration: Manually
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Local IP Address: 10.0.1.253
Gateway/Router Address: 10.0.1.1
Primary DNS/Name Server Address: 10.0.1.1
I'll have to reconfigure my "Snow" AirPort and Buffalo/Melco card to
give you more specifics, but those should get you started. Of course,
you'll need to set the SSID & WEP Key (from "Equivalent Network
Password" from one of the menus in AirPort Admin Utility) in Hiroshi's
WaveLAN driver.
Let us know how further testing goes.
