Friends,
    Thanks for the insight so far.  Unfortunately nothing has worked.  The only thing different is that I have pushed the screen 1/4 inch from the side that would normally cause a "do you want to activate packages" dialog.  The has only caused the reboot time to get shorter.  ???  I just hope there is another newt way back in the back of the storage room ;-D  Please let me know if you have any further thoughts.

Wouldn't Eckhart's "717260 Install Override.pkg" obtainable from
http://40hz.org/Pages/Patch%2071J059 also erase system updates back to version
717260?
