Hi Ryan
I'm a journalist based in the UK. First discovered Newtons via an MP120
and graduated to an eMate *before* I ever encountered a 2100.
While the 2100 is way better on speed, versatility and functionality, I
found the eMate suited me really nicely for taking with me as I
travelled around doing interviews and going to meetings. It worked for
me because of ...
1 Its compact form factor and the fact it was much lighter than a
regular laptop
2 Excellent battery life
3 The instant save function meant it was almost impossible to 'lose'
work - I could finish the interview, having typed away on the excellent
keyboard (my typing is much faster and more accurate than my fairly
woeful shorthand), close the lid and I'm gone
4 All I needed at that stage was a reliable, portable word processor
5 Plus, of course, it looked hugely cool and prompted lots of "What on
earth is THAT?" comments
6 It was always great for jotting notes, ideas and suchlike on the
train. Or playing Jig, of course :)
I do less interviews these days and quick wifi has become more vital so
I use the eMate only rarely.
Sadly I have to confess I very rarely use my 2100 these days - more
likely to be tinkering with my iPod touch ...
Russ, UK :)
