Oh, man, that was so long ago! In fact, I'm sitting here, looking at
my System folder, and wondering what it's all for! What have I become!
Remember, my first priority was to stabilize Classic, so extensions
and Control Panels were the first to go. ;-) Plus, my 30gig hard drive
was full, so I was trying to pare down for that, too. So, digging
deep--Cyberdog and all OpenDoc stuff went--that was probably a huge
chunk! Bye Wav! (sniff) and CyberDog (waaaa). Also, everything
connected to Aldus, er Adobe Pagemaker, Photoshop and Illustrated.
That was huge, too, IIRC. I know I had some other system-wide stuff,
like Applescripts and extensions, and I have this weird feeling that I
tossed some dictionaries, or something but I still have my Claris
folder, so maybe not (unless they were linked to PageMaker--maybe
Word???). All fonts that I had in OS X also went, and I goofed that
up, because , now my System font in Classic is some skinny Geneva or
Helvetica. Looks ugly. :-)

Oh, go through your Help folder, and dump what you don't need.
Especially if you aren't using HFS+, as those little files will take
up _tons_ of space. Oh! And that may be why I had to upgrade to OS9!
I couldn't mount HFS+ drives via AppleTalk--but I honestly don't
remember. Oh, I see I have a Microsoft folder (MS) and a few items
still--mostly IE, I probably kept the ie stuff as it is probably the
only browser that still "works" in OS 9. However, you could feel free
to dump that. ;-)

Essentially, however, if you don't use it, unload it. I kept a backup
of my full folder on my external. If ever I needed to boot into OS 9,
I cna boot into that, or restore from that, as well. That's about the
most I can offer...

Somebody else just posted who's still using a 1400. I would go with
his advice, as he's still using it regularly. :-)
