[NTLK] Question regarding a recent purchase for my Newton

Hello list,

My trusty 2100's backlight is losing its brightness. I just bought a
replacement backlight on eBay (said to be a unused, genuine Apple
Service Part) and I intend to install it myself. The problem is, I was
desperate and bought the part from a certain person who is heavily
disliked here, aka Ferdi. Should I be worried that I have been cheated
out of $30, or is he more reliable than what I have gathered from
reading previous threads?

I must note that when I emailed him about having him do the repair, he
wanted $75 plus return shipping.

Anyhow, I know he's frowned upon here but $30 for a replacement
backlight doesn't sound too bad, especially when it's already put
together with no soldering needed.

And for those of you who are worried about me ruining my Newt in the
repair process, I have already practiced dismantling it and putting it
back together, based on the instructions on PDASoft.de, so I am
confident I can do this if and when I receive the part.

So, what do you think? Was buying from Ferdi a huge gamble or am I ok?
