 Some of them use mini-itx. It all depends on powerconsumption. And
the batteries would be expensive, it would probably be cheaper to just
mod an old ibook into a tablet.

Ipaq hx4700 is what the Newton hardware would be today if it continued.

, only with serial console so far but once it gets the linux drivers
going it=B4s a perfect replacment 600Mhz Xscale,128MB, wlan,bluetooth,
MMC(sdio) and CompactFlash, 640x480 screen.
I think that would last my another 10 years:-)
Sure one could use one of the smaller 320x240 Ipaqs but that would be
a lot of scrolling:-)

Another thing is that there aren=B4t really any competition to the
Ipaqs, the Zaurus is hard to get and the Pepperpad is a tablet
