Well, I think I found an antenna that might work for us. I bought one
just to see how it might work and where I can mount it in/on the Newt:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8737754852or UL2101. I found one company selling them for $12 or so.

It uses a tiny U.FL connector, which will ultimately require a change in
desgin for the board. The U.FL connector is expensive ($10) which will
raise the price a bit when people go to build their own. I'll probably
just cut the end off and soldier it to the antenna pad on the current
prototype.

If they work, they're available elsewhere other than ebay. Search google
for UL2101. I found one company selling them for $12 or so.

redesign the pop-out stylus holder to be an antenna. It wouldn't be a
stylus hold anymore, just an pop-out antenna. I don't have enough case
parts to really prototype something like this anyway.
