[NTLK] Programming Question - package.creationDate

Does this field change when you make changes to preferences for a
package, or some other such activity? Or does it only change when the
package is compiled into a new version? I'm trying to find a field to
key off for some new Newton software I'm working on. There's also a
field called "timestamp", which I think may be like modification date?
Not sure.

The reason I ask this is that there is a field in a package called
"version" but not every developer uses it, and it's therefore not
usable.
