Espy Sans originated as a font in Apple eWorld online service which was
launched in early 1994. In could have been that the font, which had been
designed specifically for on-screen legibility, was chosen for both
eWorld and the Newton simultaneously. Espy also migrated to the Mac
platform in the ill-fated Copland operating system.
