Nothing wrong with such a pack. The 45 hours per charge
might be true, but only if the Newton isn't doing
anything. If you work with it or e. g. the backlight
is on, it'll be less.
I find $100 a bit on the expensive side. Be aware that
it isn't that difficult to rebuild your own pack,
instructions can be found here:

If you send me your old pack, I can do this for you for
35 Euros plus shipping back. If you do not have an old
pack as a trade-in, it'll be a bit more expensive, but
cheaper than 100USD.
