I'm making my shopping list now, soldering iron, flux, solder/tin, make a
jig to secure MP 2100 battery, pick a day for a caffeine free stint, I
already have the beer Frank has mandated, oh - some wire w/heat resistant
wrapping and some 2100mha tabbed cells.

I just read the instructions on refurbishing an MP2000/2100 battery.
In my opinion, it's best to just by a perfect, new one. Though for the
tinkerer (which you seem to be), it may be a challenging - but
rewarding - undertaking.
For the people who want to do this but do not have a URL to an
instruction site:

Good Day :-)
