Here are a couple of things you can try.

Remove the batteries and with the AC adapter plugged in, try resetting them.

Without batteries or AC adapter, pull the power switch into the "on"
position and jam it there. Leave it as such for 24 hours and then
remove the jam, put in batteries and plug in AC adapter.

Put batteries in, plug in AC adapter and leave to charge for 24 hours.

All have worked for me in the past.

It also might be possible that your power switch is dirty, try
cracking it open and cleaning the contacts.
