Not to disagree with you, because I don't. I think the Newton's
clipboard system is very unique and functional, and perfectly suited to
its purpose.
However, I have some thoughts on the above that may help with the
inadequacies you mentioned:
1. You can drag and drop directly between applications. I usually work
with windows organized so that I can drop between them. Some programs
make this harder than others, but it usually works. With Expose, it is
_massively_ easier than before.
Second trick. In the Expose control panel, turn on the hot corners.
That way, you can pick up what you want, drag to a corner to invoke
expose, drag to the window you want, and then hold until the window
pops forward again, and then drop. Very, very, very convenient!
Lastly, for getting those clipping files into programs that don't
support drag and drop, you can open the clipping on the desktop by
double-clicking, and then hit the <command>-C copy shortcut to copy the
contents of that clipping into the Mac clipboard. That will get you
want you need. It's a good "fall-back" for those apps that don't
support it (after all these years!!!!!) I first learned this trick in
System 7.5, so it's been around a while.
