grant appears to know about the fact that the stowaway keyboards come=20
in different versions and that he is attempting to convert a TTL level=20=

keyboard (from a newer palms) to a rs232 level keyboard (newton and=20
palm lll, ect.), converting the plam signal to newton compatible serial=20=

(Grant: in case you havent tried it, try XXX, it might help for that).

if you use a RS22 serial keyboard from a palm lll it is a simple matter=20=

of changing the pins about and then writing a driver for it. i just=20
thought i mention that to the list in the offchance that someone might=20=

be willing to write it. i would, but as yet i cant program, but i will=20=

help out with pinouts and stuff if needbe. it shouldnt be too hard from=20=

what i gather from the newton-on-palm driver, and if we can use=20
wireless, ata, mp3 and internet, then surely someone must be good=20
enough?

i started getting really into this hack after i was outbid on a=20
keyboard by =A31.50 and 40 mins a few days ago. i was not happy. i then=20=

went on a serious googling quest, put a post on applefritter and found=20=

out that it would be possible, even easier than id expected hardware=20
wise (i thought i would have to start messing with custom eeproms and=20
serial controllers on the bare key matrix), but it needed software.

it is also slightly immaterial now though, as someone has offered to=20
sell me their keyboard, but i still want to do this, if only to extend=20=

the newtons lifespan, as keyboards are getting rarer.=
