Hi all,
Good news for NewtSync... I managed to get the license for Andrew
Patrikalakis' Newton Connection Library changed to BSD-style licensing.
This means that I can include it in NewtSync's framework and use it to
connect to the Dock directly (provided I can get serial to work).
Victor Rehorst is working on changing the license for UnixNPI as well,
which will be immensely helpful.
What does this mean to NewtSync users? Well, for starters it means you
will be able to sync directly from the Dock on the Newton. Syncing will
also be significantly faster, and I should be able to transfer binary
data such as packages and pictures. So I imagine the releases will slow
a bit while I'm working on incorporating this; there is quite a bit of
work to do (and the plug-in API may change significantly) but the
payoff is huge.
Sorry I haven't been churning the updates out as quickly as before, but
I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm still working!
cheers...
John Anderson
