Hello all,
Courier now has the capability to use the gzip transfer encoding for
web pages. For sites that support this, you should notice a significant
download speedup, especially over modem connections. A nice side effect
for mobile users billed by the byte is that the transfer volume is
reduced (HTML compresses really well).
You need the following:
- Courier 0.6 (http://40hz.org/Courier/)
- NHttpLib 3.2 (http://40hz.org/NHttpLib/)
- ntox 1.8 (http://40hz.org/NTox/)
- Paul's Newton port of ZLib (http://www.kallisys.com/newton/zlib/)
Have fun (and let me know of any bugs),
Eckhart
PS: If you use Raissa and upgrade to ntox 1.8, you have to upgrade to
Raissa 1.1.2 as well.
