As far as the software is concerned I fear that you need to write a new
software or to find somebody who does that for you.
Maybe you can find somebody via thie list who has the fieldworker software
and/or PocketGIS.
Since the data stream coming from the GPS receiver is in ASCII this should
not be a big problem.

Concerning the receiver I decided to go for an external (standalone)
receiver, because this solution is suitable for most of the receivers
available now.
I use the GARMIN GPS mouse, it works great with GPS lite on my Newt.
The mouse has a serial SUB-D 9 interface for connection to PC. I left it as
it is and use a SUB-D 9 to mini-DIN adaptor (www.pbk-solutions.de)
