You don't need C - you do need NS. From memory, the process goes something
like this using NTK:

-Create a proto with one button in it, of the appropriate size
-Give your button a label/graphic and a clickscript (to, say, open the main
view of your app)
-Call some global function like RegBackdropButton pointing to your proto,
doing this in the app's InstallScript
-Remember to UnReg the button in the app's RemoveScript

I don't have any example code here at work, but I do have some at home.

I don't think you can do this from NSBasic. Have you checked the NSBasic
technotes? There's tons of cool NSBasic tips in there. GO to the NSBasic website (www.nsbasic.com), find the Newton dow=
nload section, and get the
technotes.sit file.

Subject: [NTLK] Q for programmers

I have a small NSBasic app and am trying to figure out how to give it an
icon on the backdrop (not just drag it to the soft button bar, but a button
on the backdrop app). I don't see a way to do that from within NSBasic,
and emailing the NSBasic author resulted in " I don't think you can do that
without "C", if you can even do it at all".
