I believe my son had this problem with his eMate. The problem is that the
wire that supplies the power for the backlight runs in and around the hinge
mechanism. The wire can get pinched, damaging the wire. Moving the screen
can 'connect and disconnect' the damaged wire by just moving the wire. The
only fix is to take the eMate apart and splice in a new section of wire.
