I did use the standard Newton-to-PC cable, with a 9-to-25 adapter and a
gender changer (the back of the LaserJet is a mess <G>). No crossovers.

I'll try it with my null-modem Newton cable then. Thx.

Actually, the LJ4 has a menu option to choose RS-422 for serial. IIRC that
is the Apple serial protocol.

Yes, it does. At least, it has a LaserJet driver; nothing LJ4 spcific,
though...
