Well, grumble, grumble, it would have been nice for paying customers
to be able to get new reg codes for software that became
un-registered due to Tactile's tough reg code generation scheme being
confounded by hard resets to the Newton. But now that there are
"underground" solutions to that problem, it's water under the bridge.

I'm glad to hear there's a chance for the product line to be
"resurrected".Tactile truly made some neat software. A good first
effort would be to immediately provide new reg codes to any and all
who need them.

A good second effort would be to rebuild and reissue the existing
software with a more standard reg code scheme which can survive a
hard reset. Like based on owner name and hardware serial number, NOT
date/time of first installation.

And then, continued development on NewtFTP would be a tremendous
service to the community. I would certainly be willing to pay an
upgrade fee for a new version that included faster transfers, API to
permit URL passing from NewtsCape, directory caching (so you can go
"up" a level without retransferring the directory), heck, maybe even
binhex and zip support while we're dreaming.

I'm gratified that Anthony is making the effort to revive the Tactile
product line and hope all involved take fullest advantage of this
"second chance".
