I'm not sure how the eMate / Newton handle charging, I think Stephanie is
correct in that the voltage is used as primary cut-off, but in many
battery charging systems, the *temperature* is used as the primary
cut-off. Well delta temperature.
Temperature is actually a very accurate indicator of when the batteries
are done charging, many cordless drills and laptop batteries include a
thermistor and the chargers sometimes use temperature first and voltage
second.
