The software you are talking about is Localtalk bridge. It allows localtalk
devices to see ethernet devices. As far as I know I don't think that
allowed internet over the port... Again I could be wrong.

There used to be a software from Apple that would let you configure a Mac
with an Ethernet connection into a router for an AppleTalk network. I
unfortunately don't remember how the software was called, however... Anybody
else?
