Perhaps, and this is just a guess, they've finally ran out of spare Newts
with which to exchange badly damaged ones?? Suggest you get a list of what
THEY say is wrong and then the list can ponder possible solutions.
Regardless, if they're not going to fix/replace it, you ought to get it back
since you say it's functional (although rough around the edges). Worst
that'll happen is that you've got yourself a spare parts machine and you go
on eBay and get another for not much different than the $180 you were going
to spend. (Assuming Apple isn't charging for services not rendered...)
