Hm, my memory of this whole affair is that the look and feel of the OS could
not have been at the bottom of the dispute. The MacOS used overlapping
windows, which was new, as was the redrawing of the windows, I believe that
Apple also had the single menubar, which the PARC project did not. I do
believe, however, that it is true that people were hired from Xerox to work
at Apple, and that it might have been disputed that Apple used actual code.
They also did go with the single-button mouse. I used to use an old Xerox
dedicated DTP system, and it did not act really at all like the Mac. It also
had something that took Apple years to develop--drag-and-drop desktop
printing.
