Version 0.4 of MAD Newton (MP3 decoder) is now available at
http://40hz.org/MADNewton/. I made some changes to the output code to
get better audio quality. It is still not overwhelming and should be
considered a work in progress (to be more specific: the clipping is not
correct yet, loud MP3 files cause some overdrive which result in crackles).
The sample app can now save a song to the default store for later
playback. Make sure that you have enough space on that store! There is
no error checking and your Newton will explode if you try to download
too much data!
Note that the sample stream doesn't seem to work currently
(http://65.93.132.53:8000/ might be a working one), but if you put a
file on a web server and point the test app to that file, you should be
able to play it back. The buffer indicator should be at 50%, if it is
below, the Newton is too slow for the stream.
