i recently upgraded my eMate and have not really noticed a decrease in
battery life. although, looking at the battery stats using avi's backdrop,
i notice the voltage on the battery is higher than it was before i installed
the upgrade (both with and without the backlight on) meaning battery life
must be affected somewhat, but it is not even noticable on my eMate.
infact, the last time i charged my eMate was last week sunday (2-21-00) and
it just died about 5 minutes ago w/ around 12 hours of actual use writing
papers (pretty good for a battery thats almost three years old).
oh and i don't notice any heat comming from the chip i installed. that's
probably whats draining your battery though. IMHO, i really don't think
heat is a good sign. especially for your eMate.
