Newton Backup Utilities (NBU) is for devices running Newton OS 2.0 only. It
won't work with your 120 running NOS 1.3. You need to use Newton Connection
Utilities (NCK) to backup/restore/install packages on a NOS 1.3 device.

The upgrade to 2.0 is a hardware one, and the ROMs are nowhere to be found these
days. The easiest way to move to 2.0 is by buying a 2.0 120, working or broken.
If broken, and if you or know someone who has some hability with working with
small pieces, then you could salvage the 2.0 ROMs and put them in your 120. Or
find a working 2.0 120 and sell off your 1.3 120.
